Where You Can Eat, Drink and Enjoy the Sun
It’s rooftop season! One of the great pleasures of a summer in the city is the oasis of having a drink on a rooftop. Something about the space, the views, the airiness makes a Thursday after-work glass of wine or Sunday afternoon Aperol spritz feel just that much more special.
Here are some of the rooftops we’ll be spending the most time on this summer. See you there!

The Culpeper, Shoreditch

This is an old favourite of ours. The Culpeper does an amazing Sunday roast but the real hidden gem of this Commercial Street gastropub is the rooftop. Expect crisp summery cocktails and a wicked menu. This is an ideal spot to watch the sun set over the City skyline with friends.

Notch, Marble Arch

A new addition to Central London, Notch is a breath of new life into the stuffier more sophisticated bar scene of Mayfair. The vibe is casual, cool with playground swings and cocktails in cans and jars. Go for a guaranteed good time, rain or shine as there is plenty of undercover space as well.

John Lewis Roof Garden, Oxford Circus

This is another hidden gem in the heart of London. Not only does the John Lewis Roof Garden feature pop-up restaurants (in collaboration with Night Tales) including the likes of B.O.B.’s Lobster and Shotgun but they also host Fat Buddha Yoga every Thursday morning at 7:30! The turf-covered ground makes it feel like a proper garden for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus.

Frank’s Cafe, Peckham

Frank’s is practically an institution to the local’s of Peckham at this point. But, as someone who lives North of the river, I can verify that it is worth the trip. Located on top of a 10-story car park, the view is unreal and the drinks are delicious (Frank, himself, is a bartender with over a decade of experience, after all). Frank’s is dog and child friendly and perfect for a weekend afternoon of catching rays with friends.

Pergola on the Roof, Shepherd’s Bush

Another car park rooftop, this time in West London; going to Pergola on the Roof is like transporting yourself to a Mediterranean villa with an actual pergola running over the whole thing. The bar is serving up delicious cocktails (think campari soda and negronis) as well as prosecco, of course, and food is supplied by Salt Yard, Patty & Bun, Rabbit & Le Coq. There are also luxurious day beds and bocci ball! You can book ahead but don’t fear a spontaneous visit as the line moves quickly.
